Kirk and I did a reconnaissance mission in October 2021 to the U.S. Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands in search of a marina.  We nailed down, much to our surprise, one of our favorite marinas called Nanny Cay in Tortola (BVI).  Next mission, get Salted Rim there in January, as we secured the slip even though the marina had a waiting list the length of a CVS receipt.  Captain Kirk made it happen.

We had several starts and stops since December on getting our boat to Nanny Cay Marina  – which included us sailing it from Sarasota to Tortola over a 4 week period, through four countries (with ever changing Covid19 travel restrictions),  to a captain doing a delivery (but had to cancel twice for good reason) to putting Salted Rim on a ship coming from the Netherlands (but the engine died.)  You can’t make this stuff up.

And you may be asking, why the rush to get Salted Rim to the BVI’s by the end of March – in case you have not heard,  we are going to be grandparents some time in April and what a better priority than that – cannot wait for Baby Perrett’s arrival.

So, with all of these options exhausted – Kirk, at the last hour, found their sister shipping company called DYT – not to be confused with PYT (pretty young thing) to take our vessel to paradise.  So we patiently watched the tracking of the ship via a marine traffic website as it departed Australia and once it passed through the Panama Canal, we knew 3/11 was a very important day – that date sound familiar? Because 60 years ago it was a big deal.
