TRAVEL:  Love my company and love our wellness days that we get once a quarter.  I took advantage of that day and we used it as a travel day and on Friday, May 13th, I know right – Friday AND the 13th we headed back to Tortola.

We left Austin for the BVIs by way of Orlando, St. Thomas, Smiths Ferry and a Cab to Nanny Cay.        (John Candy’s Planes, Trains and Automobiles)

Trying to be cost conscious given all of the back and forth travel, we opted for Spirit Airlines – best deal in town out of Orlando. The flights are super cheap.  I did a ton of research, so trust me on this.

Teaser Alert – In the words of my dear friend and colleague, Chris Baughn, you pay more money for your baggage than you do your seat.  AND, it’s not the best experience and nor is the Orlando Airport- so we vow that we should never fly Spirit again.

Minor Emergency or Rather Inconvenience:  Kirk and I were having dinner at Omars on a Friday night and I did the whole wifey thing – like you have something in your front tooth – do something about it.     I imagined it was a piece of lettuce or something of that nature.  Well low and behold, his veneer had cracked and that piece of lettuce wasn’t a piece of lettuce.  Naturally he freaked out and here we are in the BVI’s, a UK territory, not known for their dentistry – as a matter of fact there was only one dentist in the area and he was on vacation. 

So over the weekend we texted our dear friend and amazing cosmetic dentist in Houston, Dr. Ron Konig.  Truth be known, probably ruined their weekend with all of the back and forth texting.  But Ron came through for Kirk and worked him into his schedule for the following Wednesday.  So Kirk left for Houston on that Monday.  And forget about being cost conscious at that point, he just needed to get to Houston.  I call it the $10,000 tooth by the time you factor in travel and dentistry.  (ok a bit of an exaggeration).

We thought about me going with but travel “times two” was a bit ridiculous, so I felt that a massage was the more conscientious decision, so off he went to Dr. Konig and off I went to Dr. uh “Massage”. 

Kirk returned a few days later with a temporary fix that really was temporary.  Lasted about 4 days.  Melissa asked -what are you eating, rocks 😊 Needless to say, he had to live with the situation until we returned to the states on June 13th.  There we go again with the 13th…but this time it’s a Monday – thank goodness.
